Jephthe Gabriel is gracing the Mr. Olympia Mens Physique Showdown stage for the first time this year. The show that qualified him for the showdown was the Toronto Pro in 2016. Below are some questions that Jephthe Personally answered some questions for Men’s Physique News in our Olympia 2016 Series.
When did you win your pro card?
I earned my pro card in September 2015 at the Pittsburgh North American show
What motivates you to stay focused for the O?
My motivation for the O is competing against the best physiques around the world. Its an adrenaline rush thinking of how many people train throughout the year to earn the opportunity the compete on the biggest stage and the have the opportunity to represent my self is thrilling.
What advice can you give to anyone out there that wants to step into the sport?
My advice to anyone considering stepping into this sport is to make sure you’re doing it for the right reason. Do it because you love the sport of bodybuilding, you love the discipline the sport requires and most important you actually enjoy competing.
What’s the hardest aspect of contest-prep for you heading into the O?
The hardest part of prep is the mental process and the exhaustion. As i dial down my calorie intake and carb intake the energy level decreases as well and this makes it hard for those early morning cardio sessions and those tough heavy lifting training sessions. This makes the mental focus exceptionally hard and more tempting to slack off on the diet.
If you could train with any Mr. Olympia winner, past or present (in his prime), who would you pick?
I would pick Arnold Schwarzenegger without a doubt. He’s an icon in this industry and did so much to elevate the sport of bodybuilding. His physique was ahead of its time and in my opinion he is the Michael Jordan of bodybuilding.
Whats the best place for your fans to find you and keep up to date with you?
